Product Overview

The WFD30N is a vane-type waterflow detector designed specifically for installation on 3-inch (DN80) nominal size steel pipes. As part of the System Sensor WFDN Series, it features a redesigned, high-impact NEMA 4-rated enclosure that offers superior corrosion resistance and durability compared to traditional metal designs. The WFD30N is engineered to detect a sustained flow of water in a fire sprinkler system, triggering a mechanical delay mechanism to prevent false alarms caused by pressure surges. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, providing reliable performance in a wide range of environmental conditions.

Key Features

  • Pipe Compatibility: Specifically sized for 3" (76.2 mm) nominal diameter steel piping; compatible with pipe schedules 7 through 40.
  • Rugged NEMA 4 Enclosure: UV-resistant, high-impact composite cover and factory-sealed terminal block for enhanced protection against moisture and debris.
  • Mechanical Delay Mechanism: Features a field-replaceable, pneumatic delay dial (0 to 90 seconds) to eliminate "water hammer" false alarms.
  • Dual SPDT Switches: Includes two sets of Form-C synchronized switches (10 A, 125/250 VAC) for simultaneous signaling to a fire alarm panel and a local bell/horn.
  • Visual Switch Verification: Clear housing allows technicians to visually confirm switch activation without removing the cover.
  • Installation Flexibility: Supports both vertical and horizontal mounting; features two conduit openings for simplified wiring.
  • Temperature Range: Rated for operation between 32°F and 150°F (0°C to 66°C).
