Gas monitoring and detection is a matter of safety

For more than 50 years, Macurco has provided gas detection experience in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. These solutions include fixed gas monitors for security systems, building automation, HVAC systems, parking structure, cold storage, beverage and restaurant CO2 detection, and home/personal safety.

And Next Security has been a distributor of Macurco’s products since 2021, offering the best in class when someone thinks about gas detection.

With a complete portfolio of detection and alarms, Macurco offers life-safety devices for multiple uses. Here are a few examples:

Vehicle Exhaust Systems
Macurco gas detectors provide automatic exhaust fan control to help maintain acceptable levels of Carbon Monoxide (CO), Combustible Gases (EX) or Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) in parking garages. In addition, most states and local municipalities have building codes that recognize and recommend the equipment to guarantee acceptable gas concentrations.

Grow Facilities
Life Safety requirements are starting to be required in existing and new facilities for growing and extracting cannabis. Current cultivation methods of cannabis and industrial hemp utilize Carbon Dioxide (CO2) enrichment to increase plant growth and development.

Beverage Dispensing
If leaked, the CO2 used to add bubbles can create potential life safety hazards to building occupants and emergency responders. CO2 is an odorless and colorless gas heavier than air and will fill a room from bottom to top. Therefore, the 2018 International Fire Code (IFC) edition requires mechanical ventilation or an emergency alarm system when CO2 exceeds 100 pounds. Familiar places such as gas stations, restaurants, bars, and other facilities fall under this code.

Wastewater Treatment plants
Wastewater treatment (or sewage treatment) facilities take unhealthy water and make it environmentally safe. However, this water, which can contain chemicals, oils and human waste, endures a cleansing process of chemicals and toxins that can potentially threaten personnel or the facility. Therefore, constant monitoring of gases has become one of the main safety protocols in these facilities.

Residential
CO (Carbon Monoxide) is a primary concern for residential areas because it is a colorless, odorless, tasteless toxic gas formed by the incomplete combustion of carbon compounds like gasoline, wood, coal, natural gas, propane, kerosene, oil, and other heating gases. Unfortunately, CO poisoning is also the leading cause of unintentional poisoning deaths in the United States.
