Product Overview

The HID 40KHNKS-03-00059X is a specialized Signo PIV 40K keypad reader engineered specifically for high-assurance, federal-grade identity verification and physical access control systems (PACS). As part of HID's signature PIV platform, this wall-switch-mount terminal is built with a custom configuration profile that disables low-frequency 125 kHz proximity card reading out of the box to comply with strict high-security protocols. It focuses instead on reading PKI-based, FIPS-201 compliant federal credentials—including PIV, PIV-I, CIV, CAC, TWIC, and FRAC cards—as well as 13.56 MHz high-frequency smart cards and mobile IDs. Equipped with a 12-button numeric keypad for multi-factor authentication, an 18-inch pigtail cable connection, and a robust IP65-rated weatherproof housing, this reader delivers multi-layered data encryption and secure processing within demanding corporate and government infrastructures.

Key Features

  • FIPS-201 / PIV High Assurance: Designed to read PKI-based federal identity cards containing Card Authentication Key (CAK) certificates when integrated with validation systems.
  • Low-Frequency Proximity Disabled: Pre-configured under the "03-00059X" custom profile with 125 kHz legacy proximity tracking explicitly turned off to enforce strict smart card and cryptographic authentication policies.
  • Multi-Factor Authentication Keypad: Features an integrated, robust 3x4 layout numeric keypad allowing secure dual-authentication via matching PIN entry and card scans.
  • High-Frequency & Mobile Ready: Supports a comprehensive matrix of high-frequency tech including Seos, iCLASS SE, MIFARE DESFire, and mobile credentials via native Bluetooth and NFC.
  • EAL5+ Secure Element Hardware: Safeguards the physical unit against tampering and unauthorized data extraction by isolating cryptographic keys within a certified secure processor core.
  • Native OSDP Secure Channel: Leverages Open Supervised Device Protocol for encrypted, bidirectional reader-to-panel wiring alongside legacy Wiegand support.
