Engineered for commercial and heavy industrial zones where volatile open fires may occur, this standard non-explosion proof unit features a highly durable housing cast from heavy-duty ZA12 zinc alloy finished in a distinctive safety blue color. Utilizing three internal optical sensors monitoring individual infrared wavelengths, the device isolates the low-frequency flicker (1 to 15 Hz) characteristic of active combustion. This allows it to distinguish real hazards from false alarm variables like shimmering sunlight glare, artificial lighting, or reflections. The 3.8 lbs assembly accurately identifies bright hydrocarbon fuel fires and completely non-visible emissions (such as hydrogen) even when its front window lens is compromised by factory dust, oil mist, vapor condensation, or ice frosting.
